On 31 July 2015 the new Day Centre building was formally opened by the Minister of Education, the Honorable Jenifer Kere. The new Centre will provide the space for 50-60 children to be cared for and educated during day time! It includes sanitary facilities and class rooms as well as a small office.

The slums where the children come from...

Februari 2015

February 2015

A new major highway has recently been constructed around Kisumu. Unfortunately this has resulted in a situation where it has become difficult and dangerous for the children from Obunga to reach the current location of our Day Centre. At the same time there now exists an alternative Centre in Obunga itself, set up and managed by another organisation. We have taken steps to transfer a number of our children to this other Centre. We are now looking at the possibilities  to set up a new Day care Centre in Kibos, where the chicken farm is located. In Kibos also there exists a great need for child day care and the new Centre will directly benefit from the experience of our staff and the financial profits generated by the farm.

In July 2014 the plumber finished his work on the water supply system of the Kibos plot. Thanks to the donation of the One Percent Fund we described in a previous news article we now have third and fourth functioning henhouses as well as a much better water supply system for the henhouses, tomatos and other crops!
